Manhattan’s PS1 Poetry Jam, honoring Black History Month and organized in partnership with City Lore, was a powerful showcase of poetry’s beauty and diversity and a celebration of the voices of Black poets and activists. Throughout the event, students explored different types of poetry, including haiku, and learned about the power of their own voices to express their identities and experiences. They were encouraged to use their words as a tool for activism and to channel their creativity into making a positive impact in their communities.
