Food Insecurity Always at Forefront of United Community Schools Efforts

Events held citywide and upstate to feed kids and families in need.

United Community Schools continues the fight against food insecurity, supporting up to 400 families during each event at schools citywide and upstate. Harlem’s PS 30 and its Community School Director Topaz Arthur host monthly Pantry Pop Ups featuring an assortment of fresh produce and proteins. Community School Director Alexandrea Hatcher at PS 48 in Hunts Point coordinates multiple pantries per month to support both housing insecure families and the community at large. Not to be outdone, Edmund J. O’Neal Middle School Community School Site Coordinator (CSSC) Julianna Obie facilitated weekly door-to-door pantries to keep Albany’s school community safe and nourished throughout the pandemic.
